MGL Avionics September 2026 Update
MGL Avionics September 2026 Update: NaviBuilder, Lower iEFIS Pricing, and New Accessories In Stock
September brings several practical updates for MGL users in North America, including a new way to build current Navidata files, reduced pricing on iEFIS systems, and expanded accessory inventory at Legit Avionics.
Here’s a look at what’s new.
Introducing NaviBuilder
One of the biggest updates this month is the release of NaviBuilder, a new free web-based Navidata creation tool developed by Legit Avionics.
NaviBuilder gives MGL users a much easier way to create current USA NAVIDATA.EWD files without requiring special software or manually assembling multiple aviation databases.
The tool can automatically gather currently published FAA data covering items such as:
-
Airports
-
Runways
-
Navaids
-
Waypoints
-
Airspace
-
Airport frequencies
For most users, the default settings are intended to make the process simple: select the standard options, build the database, and download a current Navidata file.
More advanced users can also control how different waypoint types are encoded and how multiple data sources are prioritized when overlapping information is available. Navidata contents can be exported in CSV or JSON format and re-imported for complete customization.
NaviBuilder also allows certain waypoint information to be edited before the database is generated, including airport frequencies and waypoint long names.
This is especially useful because the MGL Navidata format has traditionally been difficult for end users to create. NaviBuilder exposes much more of that process while still keeping the basic workflow straightforward.
Along with the tool, we have also published an updated Navidata.EWD format specification. The new documentation corrects several inaccuracies in the older MGL format documentation and provides a better reference for anyone developing or maintaining Navidata tools.
NaviBuilder is available free for MGL users through Legit Avionics. Visit navidata.legitavionics.com
Lower iEFIS Pricing
We have also reduced pricing of the iEFIS lineup.
One of our goals since taking over North American MGL distribution has been to make the product line easier to understand and more competitive.
The current generation of MGL EFIS hardware offers a large amount of capability, particularly for builders who want flexible engine monitoring, navigation, autopilot integration, and configurable displays without moving into the pricing of many higher-end experimental systems.
The new pricing improves that value further.
Updated pricing is now reflected on the Legit Avionics website across the applicable iEFIS systems and components.
For builders who have been considering a new panel or an upgrade from an older MGL installation, this is a good time to take another look at the current G4 lineup.
Delta Pop Aviation Antennas Now in Stock

We are also expanding the selection of installation hardware available directly from Legit Avionics.
We now stock Delta Pop Aviation antennas, including commonly needed antennas for experimental aircraft installations.
Delta Pop has long been a familiar name in the homebuilt aircraft community, and adding these antennas gives customers the option to purchase more of the components required for an avionics installation from a single source.
Initial inventory includes VHF COM and UAT/transponder antenna options.
These are available now through the Legit Avionics store. Just search Delta Pop or view the Navigation and Radios section or the store.
V16 Wiring Harnesses from Midwest Panel Builders
Another new addition is professionally built wiring harnesses for the MGL V16 COM radio.
These harnesses are produced by Midwest Panel Builders and are intended to make V16 installations faster and cleaner, particularly for builders who would rather not assemble a complete radio harness from scratch.
The V16 itself is a compact remote-mount radio, but as with any avionics installation, the quality of the wiring and connector work matters just as much as the equipment.
Offering a ready-made harness gives customers another installation option while keeping the radio compatible with the wide variety of panel layouts found in experimental aircraft.
V16 harnesses are now available for order through Legit Avionics. Initial stock has sold-out but more are on the way!
More to Come
Much of this year has been focused on getting up to speed, establishing Legit Avionics as the new North American MGL distributor, and building the foundation needed to properly support the product line. With that groundwork now in place, our focus is shifting toward expanding usability, improving support, strengthening documentation, and creating better tools and resources for both new and existing MGL users.
NaviBuilder is a good example of that approach. It solves a longstanding inconvenience for current MGL owners while also making the underlying Navidata system substantially easier to understand and maintain.
We will continue adding installation accessories, documentation, software tools, and product updates as they become available.
As always, if you have questions about an existing MGL installation, a new panel, upgrades, or compatibility between products, feel free to contact us.
